I have been a member of the New York Bar since 1978. My practice and my client base are varied but, the thread that connects my clients to me is that they have all been seriously injured and they all require some much needed help in getting their lives back on track. I can’t remember a single client who would not have exchanged everything obtained in a lawsuit to go back in time - one (1) day before the accident. Since I am a lawyer - not a magician, that was an impossibility. I still take great pride in knowing that my clients’ lives have been made significantly better through my efforts.
I received my undergraduate education at State University of New York at Buffalo where I graduated with honors. I completed my legal education at Union University Albany Law School. I am licensed to practice before the United States Supreme Court, the state courts of New York and the U.S. District Courts for the Northern, Southern and Eastern Districts of New York.
Aside from the thousands of personal injury cases I have handled arising from all types of accidents, including medical, dental and legal malpractice, I have also taken a particular interest in assisting people who have had their civil rights violated or were injured by police officers and other municipal officials who have abused their authority.
Throughout the years, I have spoken on numerous medical and legal issues. Currently, I am a member of the Judiciary Committee, the Ethics Committee and the Medical -Legal Committee of the Westchester County Bar Association. I am also proud to be an active member of the New York State Bar Association, the New York State Trial Lawyers Association, the National Institute for Trial Advocacy and the American Association for Justice. I firmly believe that our system of justice is still the best system in the world for improving the quality of life for people injured through the negligence of others.
Currently, I teach a course on Medical Malpractice in the the SUNY college system. I have spent my professional career assisting people in reclaiming their lives.
I have come to the practice of law from a wide variety of experiences. After serving in the United States Marine Corps, I completed my Bachelor's degree at the Dominican College of Blauvelt. After college, I became a New York City police officer. I served for over seven (7) years as a street cop in the South Bronx and was an active and decorated patrolman, until being injured in the line of duty in 1989.
I began my legal studies at the St. John’s University School of Law, attending classes at night while working as a police officer. I was in the middle of those studies when I was injured. After a period of rehabilitation, I finished my legal education and sadly, was retired from the police service. I took a teaching and coaching position at Salesian High School in New Rochelle, New York where I developed a pre-law curriculum, coached the Mock Trial Team (several of my students have completed law school) and coached J.V. Basketball, Varsity Basketball (1997 N.Y.S. Champions) and Varsity Baseball. My summer months were spent traveling throughout the country as a performing songwriter (I have published four [4] recordings of my music).
When I began practicing law, I worked with a firm that represented insurance companies against injured people. After little more than a year of working there, I realized I could not continue that work in good conscience. It became clear to me that the insurance industry was devoid of compassion and approached each case as though each claim was a fraud.
At that point, I realized I wanted to represent the injured instead of the industry. This is an industry that charges consumers high premiums for a service they rarely use and then, all to often, refuses to provide that service when called upon to do so. They will use any excuse to deny coverage or keep from paying benefits.
Since joining the “good guys”, I have successfully litigated hundreds of cases including negligence, malpractice, products liability and police brutality with good result to my clients. I welcome every opportunity to represent individuals who have been seriously injured through the negligence of others.
Currently, I am a member of the American Bar Association, New York State Bar Association, Westchester County Bar Association, Bronx County Bar Association, Association of Trial Lawyers of America, the New York State Trial Lawyers Association and the Marine Corps League. I am admitted to practice before the Courts of the State of New York as well as the United States District Courts in the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York.
We look forward to the possibility of serving you and your family in your time of need.
